HISTORY

The Wolverton Volunteer Rescue Squad was founded in March 1980.  We are a non-profit, volunteer organization trained to administer Basic Life Support to an ill or injured person.  Donations, grants, and fundraisers fund our organization.  We do not get reimbursed for any of the calls we respond to.  Each year, we hold our annual fundraising breakfast in the spring, and "Bingo & Brats" in the fall.  We greatly appreciate the support given to the squad by the communities we serve.

Originally, this service was available to persons in the immediate area of Wolverton.  At the present time, we service the areas of Wolverton, Comstock, and Kent in Minnesota; and Christine, North Dakota.

The squad had twenty members when it began.  Their training requirements were forty hours classroom, four hours emergency room observation, and four hours riding along with FM Ambulance for a First Responder; and 80 hours classroom for Emergency Medical Technicians.

We currently have eleven (11) active members and are always looking for new members willing to serve the community and surrounding area.  The training requirements are 40 hours classroom, five hours emergency room observation, and five hours ambulance ride along for First Responders.  This is the minimum requirement for becoming a member of Wolverton Volunteer Rescue Squad.

We have a monthly meeting the third Tuesday of every month held in the Wolverton Fire Hall where the members all receive continuing education and training to maintain the skills needed to provide professional and competent care.  We are also required to re-certify in CPR each year, which is also done at the monthly meetings.
